Planned Maintenance 31/08/2011 – Replacement of Packet Shaper (DC2 Hall1)
Posted by Thomas Brown on 15 August 2011 04:27 PM

Background:

Server Centre will be replacing their packet shaper that is currently installed in the Derby datacentre. Packet shaping is currently performed by a standalone piece of equipment for DC2 Hall 1 customers. This equipment will be removed and packet shaping functionality will be implemented on our core network equipment as is currently the case for customers in our other datacentre halls.

Impact:

There should be no down time required to decommission the packet shaper. Traffic will be re-routed via other links away from the packet shaper as part of this maintenance.

Maintenance Window

Wednesday 31st August 00.00 – 0.30

No actual downtime is expected during the maintenance however some protocol flows may be dropped due to routing changes. Internet transit services for DC2 Hall 1 will be “at risk” for the full maintenance window.

Our network operations engineers will closely monitor the work and will do everything possible to minimize any inconvenience to you. If you have any problems with your connection after this time, or if you have any questions regarding the maintenance at any point, please call Technical Support at 0845 413 3800 or visit www.servercentre.net/support

While it is important for Server Centre to perform maintenance such as this to ensure the quality of our network, we do everything possible to minimize any inconvenience to our customers. We appreciate your patience and welcome any feedback.

Regards,

Server Centre Support

Planned Maintenance 26/08/11 Affecting DSL & IPBVN Customers
Posted by Thomas Brown on 26 July 2011 04:59 PM

Background:

We will be performing a software upgrade on one of our Broad Remote Access Servers (BRAS) in the Derby Data Centre. This software upgrade is required to bring the system up to the recommended general deployment release as advised by the BRAS vendor.

Impact:

The BRAS requires a reboot in order to make the new software active. As a result all connections terminating on the BRAS will experience service disruption. These include:

xDSL DataStream Services

LLU xDSL services (Derby, Nottingham & Leicester Exchanges)

IPBVN customers with Ethernet services terminating directly on this BRAS

IPBVN customers with Lease Line services terminating directly on this BRAS

Note – IPStream/21CN xDSL Services (those with a @n4dsl username) will not be affected.

Maintenance Window

Friday 26th August 00.00 – 02.00

Actual downtime is expected to be less than 15 minutes, although services will be “at risk” for the full maintenance window.

Our network operations engineers will closely monitor the work and will do everything possible to minimize any inconvenience to you. If you have any problems with your connection after this time, or if you have any questions regarding the maintenance at any point, please call Technical Support at 0845 413 3800 or visit www.servercentre.net/support

Issue Affecting Internet Transit
Posted by Thomas Brown on 21 April 2011 12:35 PM

At around 17:30 today some our customers reported issues affecting internet transit to certain destinations. We have identified a problem with one of our upstream providers and shut down our peering sessions with this provider. All internet transit is now being routed by alternate providers.

If you are still experiencing issues, please contact support@servercentre.net

DC1 & DC2 Internet Transit Issue 16:21 18/01/11
Posted by Thomas Brown on 18 January 2011 05:16 PM

Between 16:21 and 16:30 today some customers experienced issues with Internet transit from DC-1 and DC-2 in Derby.

Engineers are currently investigating the cause.

Update 18/01/2011 17:35 – Engineers have isolated the issue to an Ethernet link between one of our two Core routers, our traffic shaper, and one of our Core Switches – all located within the Derby DC. We are currently studying logs, and information from our Network Management Systems in an effort to identify the root cause. The issue caused a high percentage of packet loss which resulted in OSPF neighbour sessions flapping, which in turn caused Internet Transit connectivity issues for collocated customers.
